Greens achieve unity for election, but few know about them

The good news is that the notoriously fractious Greek eco-parties have banded together, with the encouragement of the European Greens, to contest the May 21 election.

The bad news is that few know of the formation, “Green & Purple,” that was set up in January by seven green parties, as Vasiliki Gramatikogianni, one of the two co-leaders of the coalition, finds out when she hands out leaflets – printed on recycled paper, needless to say – at a farmers market in central Athens.

There is polite interest, but will it translate into votes?
