Tram workers to walk off the job on Wednesday
The Athens Urban Rail Transport Company (STASY) has informed commuters that the tram service will not operate on Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., due to a work stoppage by a workers’ union.
Trains will gradually start to be withdrawn at 9 a.m. Services are expected to be fully restored by 2.30 p.m.
Employees are demanding the recruitment of new drivers. In a statement last week the union representing Attica tram drivers said that the problem of staff shortages is well known to the relevant authorities.
STASY workers on Line 1 of the metro and the ISAP electric rail will also walk off the job from 10 p.m. until the end of the shift.
