Ioannis Kasselakis replaces late Conservative MP in parliament
Ioannis Kasselakis was sworn in as the new lawmaker representing Chania, Crete, in Greece’s parliament on Tuesday, taking the place of Manousos Voloudakis who died of lung cancer on February 8.
Kasselakis, a doctor, accepted the post after the first runner-up in the 2019 elections, Dimitris Frangakis, rejected the job, citing his work at the helm of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT).
Born in the village of Skines, Kasselakis is the third child of a farming family and works as a general practitioner at the area of Alikianos. He is married and has five children.
