Greece will continue to support quake victims in Syria, Turkey, top diplomatic source says
The Greek government is unreservedly willing to continue supporting the quake-stricken populations in Turkey and Syria, a top diplomatic source said on Monday, on the sidelines of a foreign ministry event. According to the same source, it was very important for Greece’s neighboring country to “remain on its feet” after this great tragedy.
The same source also noted that what Turkey most needed at present were shipping containers and winter tents, while there was no need to send another EMAK search-and-rescue team.
“The most important thing at this moment is to be useful to Turkish society, whether under a bilateral or a European ‘hat’,” the same source said.
The issue of Syria and how to best organize the sending of humanitarian aid to the country will be discussed on Monday at the EU Foreign Affairs Council. [AMNA]
