Targeted measures for persons with disabilities

International Day of Persons with Disabilities was marked in Greece on Saturday with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis noting four measures removing the barriers faced by people with disabilities.

More specifically, in a Facebook post, he said his government is taking four targeted steps. These are the Digital Disability Card, which has been in operation since November 1; a new employment program with subsidized salaries and social security contributions for 3,000 disabled people; the establishment of School of Digital Training for people with autism; and scheme, still in pilot phase, for providing at-home assistance.

The prime minister also noted that following an extraordinary financial support package from the state, a bill improving accessibility of products and services for persons with disabilities was passed in Parliament a few days ago.

“The road ahead, however, is still long,” Mitsotakis added.
