Two moderate quakes rattle Evia
A 3.9 magnitude earthquake rattled the island of Evia Saturday, followed by a second earthquake with a similar magnitude.
The Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics said the first earthquake hit southern Evia at 12.35 p.m. The quake’s epicentre was 8 kilometres east/southeast of the village of Zarakes, at a depth of 9.7 kilometres.
A second earthquake, also with a magnitude of 3.9, struck six minutes later. The epicentre was 9 kilometers east of Zarakes, at a depth of 9.5 kilometers.
The quakes were felt in Athens.
