Man drowns in new migrant boat sinking off Kos
One man has been confirmed dead and several passengers were rescued by patrol boats responding to their distress signal in the latest migrant boat wreck in the Aegean Sea, Agence-France Presse reported on Thursday.
The boat went down off the coast of Kos, a few kilometers from Turkish shores, late on Wednesday, the AFP said.
On Wednesday, the coast guard recovered another body from an overloaded migrant smuggling boat that went down in the western Aegean Sea earlier this month, taking the confirmed death toll from that incident to 29. According to the Associated Press, another 27 passengers from that boat are still missing.
