Detainee escapes police custody in Athens court

A man arrested for multiple thefts escaped from a police van as he waited to appear before a judge at the Evelpidon court complex in downtown Athens on Monday.

According to information, the man is a young Algerian national. It was not clear how he managed to escape the attention of the officers.

Police is searching for the suspect.
