Egyptian ambassador in Athens hails strategic relationship with Greece

The different aspects of the evolving strategic relationship between Greece and Egypt were highlighted by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Athens, Omar Youssef, in a meeting he hosted with a group of prominent Greek journalists.

The discussion covered the prospering bilateral relations, the progress the two countries have witnessed over the last years, and how these strategic relations can assist both countries in realizing the aspirations of their peoples amid the evolving regional and international developments.

The cooperation between the two countries permitted them to take the necessary steps for projects such as the electric interconnector and the draft agreement to regulate the seasonal usage of Egyptian workers in the agricultural field to materialize, he noted and stressed that the two countries have the potential to expand their cooperation in the cultural, commercial and touristic domains.

The Egyptian Ambassador welcomed Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ planned visit to Cairo in order to participate in the COP27 Conference in Sharm El Sheikh, which is the most important forum for the leaders of the world to address issues related to the environment.

He said that the Prime Minister chairmanship of one of the most important high level roundtable discussions during the conference is another testimony of the special relations between the two countries and indicated that this visit comes as a continuity of a practice of regular consultations and cooperation between both sides, through bilateral and trilateral meetings the last of which was FM Dendias’ meeting with FM Sameh Shoukry in Egypt last month.
