Dendias marks 2020 EEZ deal with Egypt
Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias marked the two-year anniversary of the signing of the August 2020 agreement designating an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Eastern Mediterranean, saying it has helped consolidate Greece’s interests.
“We are consolidating [Greece’s] national interests with respect to international law and the law of the sea,” he tweeted.
He accompanied the tweet with a photo of himself and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry from the signing of the agreement on August 2, 2020, in Cairo.
The agreement effectively canceled out the illegal maritime boundary accord in 2019 between Turkey and Libya.
