Covid-19 infections surge past 12,500

The number of new coronavirus cases in Greece jumped to 12,537 in the 24 hours ending on Tuesday morning, a sharp increase from Monday’s 4,832.
Covid-19-related deaths also rose to 14 from 11 the previous day, taking the official nationwide number of fatalities since the start of the pandemic to 30,115, according to the National Organization for Public Health (EODY).
There were 96 Covid patients on ventilators on Tuesday, one less than Monday.
Health authorities said they had conducted a total of 154,731 tests in the last 24 hours (16,783 PCR and 137,948 rapid antigen).
