Building permits issued without authority approval
Building permits will be issued without any inspections by a public authority, according to an Environment Ministry draft law.
The law stipulates that permits will be issued automatically, under the responsibility of the engineer, while at the same time construction planning services seem to be heading toward abolition since they will no longer have any substantial, licensing or controlling role. Their participation will be limited to the control of the topographic diagram.
The same draft law extends environmental business licenses even if they have expired, while some new commercial uses are added to the area of Elaionas in Athens.
The draft was submitted to Parliament late Friday, and mainly concerns the licensing of renewable energy sources.
This regulation essentially entails the renunciation of the state’s duty to inspect and approve construction activity, essentially leaving the situation to chance.
