Gov’t stocking reserves in light of Ukrainian crisis, PM tells president
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis outlined the government’s strategy to maintain financial reserves, as no one knows how long the current crisis will last, during his monthly meeting with Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace on Friday.
“We are preserving our strength, we are holding reserves, because we simply do not how long this crisis will last,” he said, noting that the world faces a “period of prolonged uncertainty and instability.”
“We are facing inflation rates that we have not seen in 40 years,” he said, adding that the Greek government has done everything in its power to support households and businesses in this difficult time.
However, he assured Sakellaropoulou that there were no product shortages in the Greek market, warning that the government will be ruthless in tackling any incidents of profiteering.
