Patriarch leaves hospital, to continue US visit, archbishop confirms
Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomaios was released from a hospital in Washington, DC on Monday and will continue his visit to the United States, Archbishop of America Elpidophoros confirmed.
“I am pleased to announce that our Most Holy Spiritual Father has left the hospital. He is in good health and will continue the program of his official visit as normal,” said Elpidophoros in a post on Twitter.
Vartholomaios, the 81-year-old spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, was expected to continue his scheduled program on Monday.
Vartholomaios was admitted briefly to hospital on Sunday after feeling unwell from the exertions of the flight from Istanbul to Washington and a heavy schedule of meetings.
