Greek hospital doctors to walk off the job on Tuesday
The union of Greek public hospital doctors, OENGE, has called a strike on Tuesday that will see its members walking off the job for 24 hours.
Unionists had also planned to stage a protest march, starting at the Health Ministry in downtown Athens at 10.30 p.m. and heading to Parliament, though this was unlikely to take place given the weather.
OENGE is accusing the government of turning the country’s hospitals into Covid-19 facilities and undermining their role in treating other illnesses and medical conditions.
It is also decrying the transfer of hundreds of doctors to coronavirus vaccination centers, saying the move leaves other departments seriously short of staff.
