Tsipras, Rivlin plant olive trees at Holocaust museum site
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin (l) and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday planted two olive trees at the site where a Holocaust museum is to be be built in Thessaloniki. The museum will be a ‘weapon in the battle of memory against forgetfulness,’ Tsipras said during a ceremony in which he and Rivlin laid the foundation stone for the new institution. ‘Seventy-five years ago, this was where the first Jews were sent to Auschwitz,’ Rivlin said. ‘The museum… should serve as a witness to our obligation to create a world that will shout, “Never again!”’ [Stelios Misinas/ANA-MPA]
