Police escort tax inspector’s killer to magistrate
Police officers scrambled to shield a 58-year-old man charged with the murder of a 32-year-old tax officer from angry protesters outside the capital’s Evelpidon court complex on Friday. In his testimony before an investigating magistrate, the man allegedly admitted to stabbing Theodora Zeberi 14 times on the afternoon of October 18. Zeberi had been sitting at the graveside of a loved one in Athens’s Second Cemetery in the western suburb of Rizoupoli when as Emmanouil Soropidis, 58, approached her with the intent of stealing her bag.
