More migrants living in tents on Lesvos amid rising tensions
Migrants are seen at the reception facility near the village of Moria on Lesvos on Friday. Tensions are rising at the facility, which was designed to accommodate 2,000 people but is hosting around 5,500. This escalated into violence earlier in the week but police did not intervene with tear gas as they have done in the past due to the presence of more than 1,000 children at the camp. In a bid to prevent further unrest, police set up barricades between migrants of different ethnic groups. Overcrowding has led authorities to set up tents around the perimeter of the camp.
