Refugees visit the Acropolis

Young women from Afghanistan visited the archaeological site on the Acropolis hill on Tuesday on the occasion of World Refuge Day in Athens. The trip was organized by Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou, who welcomed the refugees, all residents of the Schisto reception center, in front of the Parthenon. The young refugees were shown around the site by state archaeologists. "It is important for us to share this heritage with these young people who have gone through difficult times," Koniordou told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency. [EPA]
