Producers of Prespes beans seek more support

Representatives of the Pelekanos Agricultural Cooperative of the Prespes National Park in northern Greece have met with Alternate Agriculture Minister Markos Bolaris to push for a more favorable framework for cooperatives and the disbursement of EU funds. Pelekanos is one of Greece’s most successful co-ops. It started in 2004 in response to the unregulated trade of "Prespes beans," a product with a protected geographical indication.
