Six Aegean monuments to be repaired with EU funds
The Castle of Chios, a medieval citadel in the capital of the northeastern Aegean island and a main tourist attraction, is seen in a file photograph. The repair of the fortress is one of the six monument restoration projects to have been inducted by Greece’s Culture Ministry in the European Union’s 2014-20 NSRF/ESPA program. The monuments are scattered across the Aegean islands of Lesvos, Chios, Limnos, Rhodes, Sikinos and Kythnos. The estimated budget for the program is more than 7 million euros.
