Migrants taken to safety on Lesvos
Migrants are helped off a vessel at the port of Mytilene on the Aegean island of Lesvos on Saturday. The boat is part of the mission in the area overseen by European Union border agency Frontex. According to the most recent figures provided by the UNHCR for July, there have been 940 arrivals by sea this month. This is a dramatic drop compared to last year, when almost 55,000 refugees reached the Greek island in July alone. Greek officials are concerned, though, that the recent turmoil in Turkey may lead to numbers rising again. [Stratis Balaskas/ANA-MPA]
