A diver explores ‘rich’ archaeological site in Aegean
A diver explores a shipwreck off the Fournoi islets in the Aegean Sea in a photograph released by the Culture Ministry Monday. A total of 45 shipwrecks, many dating to ancient times, have been found in the area, one of the Mediterranean’s "richest" archaeological sites, the ministry said. Apart from the wrecks, marine archaeologists have also discovered hundreds of ceramic artifacts and anchors. According to the ministry, the artifacts and anchors are "evidence of navigation and trade off the archipelago." [Culture Ministry]
