Transformation of coastal Poseidonos Avenue continues
Work to underground a section of Poseidonos Avenue is seen as part of the Elliniko project, an urban redevelopment plan at the site of the former airport on the southern coast of Athens. The underground section will be 1.5 km long, with over 1 km comprising three lanes of traffic in each direction. Excavation has progressed in 50% of the total volume, with the maximum reuse of excavation materials in other areas of the project, such as the Metropolitan Park, according to developer Lamda. Concrete casting has also been completed on 25% of the total volume, and is progressing rapidly. The tunnel is scheduled to be completed in December 2024. [AMNA]
