ADMIE: Green investments are going to continue

The Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) Chairman and CEO Manos Manousakis emphasized that expanding electrical networks is essential for integrating more renewable energy sources (RES) which will provide more affordable electricity.

Manousakis, speaking at the 6th Renewable & Storage Forum, focused on managing the new reality brought by high RES penetration, now reaching 60% of the domestic energy mix.

He expressed optimism that green investments will continue, noting that this progress will require the development of a “quasi-second transmission system” to accommodate the significant influx of RES expected over the next decade.

However, he added that the process is challenging and time-consuming due to unresolved permitting issues. “It takes as long to build a project as it does to obtain its permits,” he remarked.
