Stocks end flat; small-caps ease

Greek stocks remained unchanged yesterday as mild blue chip gains offset soft mid-cap and small-cap shares. The Athens Exchange’s benchmark general index closed at 3,062.83 points. The FTSE/ATHEX blue chip 20 index outperformed, adding 0.42 percent. Marfin Investment Group (MIG) jumped 9.17 percent, while National Bank rose more than 2 percent. The FTSE/ATHEX mid-cap 40 index shed 0.18 percent and the FTSE/ATHEX small-cap 80 index gave up 0.53 percent. Major European bourses traded slightly in the red yesterday, with falls in the automobile and commodities stocks outweighing stronger banks. Turnover on the Athens bourse was 330 million euros versus 272 million euros in the previous session.
