Intralot signs deal to operate state lottery in Brazil
Greek lottery system supplier Intralot has signed a deal to operate a Brazilian state lottery, expanding its presence in South America, it said yesterday. Intralot, which is present in 45 countries, said its subsidiary Intralot do Brasil will be the online operator of the state lottery of Rio de Janeiro, Loterj. No financial details were given. The first product will be a new fast draw Keno-type game, combined with instant lottery tickets that will be available before the end of 2008 on an initial network of 1,000 points of sale, Intralot said. The gaming portfolio as well as the network are expected to expand further, according to the plan for the operations. «The Brazilian market has great appeal for Intralot, being one of the most important and quickly developing markets, both on a regional, as well as on a global basis,» said Intralot CEO Constantinos Antonopoulos. Shares in Intralot, which has a market value of just over 1 billion euros, fell 6.61 percent yesterday to 6.50 euros versus a 3.55 percent decline on the broader Athens bourse.
