Losses trimmed by session’s end

The Greek bourse failed to follow the rising course of foreign markets and closed with a moderate decline, after opening with major losses. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,952.81 points yesterday, a drop of 0.17 percent from Wednesday. At one point, though, it had lost 2.60 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index lost 0.74 percent to end at 1,596.97 points. Outperforming blue chips were Coca-Cola HBC (up 5.06 percent), Titan cement (4.18 percent), EFG Eurobank (3.44 percent) and Hellenic Petroleum (2.41 percent). Moving southward were Bank of Cyprus (down 6.14 percent), Motor Oil (3.35 percent), National Bank (3.09 percent), Intralot (2.94 percent) and Piraeus Bank (2.52 percent). Turnover came to 344.9 million euros.
