Socialists promise ELVO support

PASOK’s Yiannis Ragousis yesterday visited military vehicle manufacturer ELVO in Thessaloniki where he promised that the Socialists would support measures to help the government-controlled company to expand. Engineering and metals group Mytilineos owns 47 percent of ELVO in a joint venture with its subsidiary Metka while the Greek state holds the remaining stake. ELVO is the Greek army’s biggest supplier of vehicles, producing a range of trucks and armored vehicles. Ragousis then visited the facilities of German electronics and engineering giant Siemens in the northern Greek city, where workers asked for support to keep the plant operating.
