Average gross salary at 1,668 euros

The president of the public sector labor group ADEDY, Spyros Papaspyros, (left) with his peer from GSEE (the General Confederation of Greek Labor), Yiannis Panagopoulos (right), prepare to present to the press the findings of a joint study on the country’s labor market. According to the report, the average monthly gross salary in Greece stands at 1,668 euros. The union groups argue however that the average income figure is actually lower since high salaries earned by 15 percent of the work force skew figures upward. Fifty percent of full-time workers in Greece earn a gross monthly amount of less than 1,250 euros, according to the labor groups.
