TANKERS With the N. Sea very active and CSSA fixing anything with prompt dates for Baltic, Denmark and the UK, we have almost reached the end of the week. Rates are still for modern Aframax at W/S 115, however, the trend is upward. – Med. at steady levels with minor activity. Modern Aframax at W/S 125, older at W/S 105 on. Suezmax market is declining with not adequate inquiry. – Caribs stable at W/S 105 for the 70,000-ton cargo liftings, while W. Africa still at W/S 70 for USAC destinations, having not seen cargoes after April 4. – In the Med., Exoil for 80,000 tons of cargo loading March 26 Black Sea, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Windsor» at W/S 105. – In the Continent, Stasco has fixed M/T «SKS Tiete» for 80,000 tons of cargo loading March 26 UK, discharging USAC, at W/S 115. – In Caribs, Valero for 70,000 tons of cargo loading March 22 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Eurydice» at W/S 105. – In W. Africa, Sun for 130,000 tons of cargo loading beg. April, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Venitia» at W/S 70. DRY CARGO Caper market continues to weaken due to little fresh inquiry. – Panamaxes in the East are beginning to look decidedly more dodgy, while Atlantic remains active. The number of period fixtures completed is interesting and makes one believe that charterers may be expecting the market to further improve. – Handymax rate levels are moving upward in the Atlantic with the S. Koreans having fixed M/V «Brother Glory» 46,211 dwt, built 1998, delivery end March US Gulf, redelivery Far East, at USD 10,500 daily. – Demand for smaller 15-20,000 dwt vessels in the East is limited and dominated entirely by rice cargoes. – On Panamax in Far East, Goldbeam has fixed M/V «Santa Lucai» 74,000 dwt, built 1999, delivery Japan end March trip via China, redelivery Continent, at USD 6,250 daily. – In Atlantic, Pioneer has fixed M/V «Sundance 11» 65,224 dwt, built 1983, delivery Morocco for 3-5 months period at USD 6,900 daily.
