TANKERS The Aframax market in the Mediterranean is very active, after the 15 new stems in the area. Rates went up from W/S 140 to W/S 220 for cargoes out of the Black Sea. – Alpine has fixed M/T «Mandelo» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading May 7 Kavkaz, discharging Mediterranean, at W/S 165, while Vitol has fixed M/T «Apanemo» for same cargo, loading May 9 Odessa, with same destination, at W/S 140. – Chevtex for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading May 10 Black Sea, discharging Mediterranean, has fixed at W/S 220, while Clearlake for same cargo, loading May 13 Russia, with same destination, has fixed Thenamaris tonnage at W/S 220. – Cont. is stable, with Exxonmobil having fixed M/T «Mare Adriacum» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading May 4 North Sea, discharging UKC, at W/S 130. – On Suezmax, BP for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading May 10 North Sea, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Four Sun» at W/S 140. – In Caribs, Shell has fixed M/T «Jag Leela» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading May 6 East Coast Mexico, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 165. – In West Africa, BP for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading May 27, discharging US Gulf – USWC, has fixed M/T «Da Yuan Hu» at W/S 140 – W/S 160 respectively. – In Arabian Gulf, Koch for 275,000 tons of cargo, loading May 19, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Tenyo» at W/S 76. DRY CARGO Another quiet day for Capers, with rates under some limited pressure in the East and Atlantic. – Tonnage ballasting from the East to Brazil is having a negative impact on the Atlantic rates too. – Charterers appear to be taking advantage of the supply on tonnage and driving rates even lower. – On T/C periods, Panocean has fixed M/V «Thalassini Avra,» for five years’ trading, delivery UKC May 13-14, at USD 36,500 daily, while Bocimar has fixed Sanko tonnage at USD 35,000 daily without any further details. – Quiet conditions for Panamaxes too, with little signs of rates leveling for tonnage in the East. – Few vessels also were fixed in Atlantic but very little has been reported. – On Panamaxes in Far East, Norden has fixed M/V «Betis,» 76,801 dwt, built 2004, delivery May 5-10 Indonesia, redelivery Mediterranean, at USD 18,500 daily. – In the Atlantic, Sealink has fixed M/V «Great Prosperity,» 73,679 dwt, built 1999, delivery East Coast South America, redelivery Far East, at USD 37,500 daily.
