TANKERS Stable conditions for Aframaxes in the Med., with 80,000-ton cargoes in the cross-trips in the area at W/S 140 while out of the Black Sea at W/S 160. – There is much fixing and failing in the area. – ENI has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 22 Egypt, discharging Med., at W/S 140, while Vitol for same cargo, loading Feb. 26 Black Sea, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Panagia Armata» at W/S 160. – N. Sea appears firmer, with 80,000-ton cargo liftings having been fixed at W/S 135-150, depending on dates and charterers, while 100,000-ton cargoes out of the Baltic are fixed at W/S 350. – Navion has fixed M/T «Natura» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 26 WC Norway, discharging UKC, at W/S 135, while Clearlake and for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 26 Primorsk, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Sparto» at W/S 350. – Caribs is seeing limited activity, with Adam having fixed M/T «Champion» for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 10 EC Mexico, discharging USG-AC, at W/S 187.5, while on smaller sizes BP has fixed M/T «Velopoula» for 50,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 22, discharging USAC, at W/S 232.5. – Suezmaxes is weaker, with only few fresh cargoes. – In the Med., Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Flawless» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Feb. 25 Egypt, discharging Med., at W/S 190, while in W. Africa rates have been falling to W/S 157.5 for 130,000 tons of cargoes with destination US Gulf. – VLCCs have no cargoes or activity. DRY CARGO There are very few reported fixtures for Capesize tonnage. – In the East, rates are stable or firmer at USD 70,000 daily for round voyages in the area. – On Panamaxes, period activity continues to drive the market in the East. – Cargill has booked an lME at close to USD 40,000 daily for a short period. – In the Atlantic, Noble has fixed M/V «Flipper,» 73,726 dwt, built 1996, delivery Gibraltar, for a trip via EC S. America to the Middle East at USD 41,000 daily. – In Far East, Kline has fixed M/V «Mineral Star,» 76,000 dwt, delivery Japan Feb. 17-22, for 4-6 months’ trading at USD 38,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, M/V «Gwendolen,» 50,248 dwt, built 2004, delivery China Feb. 20-22, for 2 years’ trading, was fixed at USD 24,500 daily.
