TANKERS A very quiet start, with Aframaxes in the Med. at W/S 160-165 in the normal cross-voyages and at W/S 200 out of Black Sea. – Continent is quiet too, with cross-UK voyages at W/S 165 while the 100,000-ton cargoes out of Baltic Sea at W/S 380. – Suezmax market is seeing limited inquiry. In the Med., the 135000-ton cargoes are fixed at W/S 145, while the 130,000-ton cargoes out of West Africa with destination States are at W/S 140. – VLCCs in West Africa at W/S 100, with destination US Gulf and W/S 80 with destination Far East. – Suezmax North Sea rates are drifting in the mid-100s. – Lukoil for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Black Sea January 28, discharging Med., has fixed M/T «Ceram Sea» at W/S 200, while Petrogal has fixed M/T «Ce Merapi» for the same size cargo, loading Algeria January 28, discharging Portugal, at W/S 162.5. – In the North Sea, BP has fixed M/T «Natura» for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Norway January 29, discharging UKC, at W/S 165, while Navion for the same cargo quantity has fixed M/T «Ragnhild Knutsen,» loading January 29 Norway, discharging UKC, at W/S 170. – Europet for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading January 28 Primorsk and discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Isabella» at W/S 380. – On Suezmaxes, Chevtex in the Med. has fixed M/T «Unicorn» for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading January 29 CPC, discharging Med., at W/S 145. DRY CARGO A quiet start with minimum fresh inquiry. – Indices on January 14 moved downward. – Bulkcarriers index has lost 78 points to 6,387, while the Panamax has lost 79 points to 4,589. – On the latest fixtures, Cosco has fixed M/V «Cape Mor,» 194468 dwt, built 1985, delivery Cape Passero February 13/15, via Brazil, redelivery China, at 93,000 USD daily, while Pegasus has fixed M/V «Nightwhisper,» 172428 dwt, built 1985, delivery Cape Passero January 13/14, via Brazil and Eregli, redelivery Med., at 72,000 USD daily. – On Panamaxes, Mosk has fixed M/V «Bahia,» NASL relet 2004, 76,600 dwt, delivery Shanghai PPT, trip via EC Australia, redelivery Japan, at 35,250 USD daily, while BHP Billiton has fixed M/V «Nordweser,» built 2001 75,321 dwt, delivery Xiamen January 16-17, via Port Hedland, redelivery China, at 35,000 USD daily. – Chinese Charterers has fixed M/V «Energy Star,» 75,318 dwt, built 2003, delivery PMO January 18-20, via WC India, redelivery China, at USD 45,000 daily, while BHP Billiton has fixed M/V «Medi Roma,» 74,255 dwt, built 2001, delivery Kaohsiung Jan. 14-24, via Dalrymple Bay, redelivery UKC, at 36,500 USD daily.
