TANKERS Busier day in the Mediterranean and Cont., with Aframax rates again at W/S 430 and W/S 330, respectively. – Caribs remain relatively quiet. – In the Mediterranean and on Aframaxes, Petrogal for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading November 23 Algeria, discharging Portugal, has fixed M/T «Livia» at W/S 422.5, while BP for same cargo, loading November 21 also Algeria, discharging UK, has fixed M/T «Sparto» at W/S 325. – On Suezmaxes, BP for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading November 25, discharging UKC-Mediterranean, has fixed M/T «Discovery» at W/S 362.5. – In the North Sea, Europet for 100,000 tons of cargo, loading November 28 Baltic, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Tempera» at W/S 320. – In Caribs, Exxonmobil for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading November 13 Venezuela, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Patriot» at W/S 395. – On VLCCs in Arabian Gulf, Ursa has fixed M/T «Kos» for 277,000 tons of cargo, loading November 18, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 185. DRY CARGO Capesize market remains strong in the Atlantic and is firming in the East. – Klavenes has fixed M/V «Iron Queen,» 161,121 dwt, built 1996, delivery November 5-10 UK, for two legs Brazil-Iran, redelivery UKC-Mediterranean, at USD 75,500 daily. – In Far East, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Good News,» 138,490 dwt, built 1982, delivery mid-November China, trip via South Africa, redelivery UKC, at USD 42,000 daily. – Panamaxes in the Atlantic are busier due to a substantial amount of new transatlantic mineral cargoes being quoted in the market. – In the East, rates have dipped with lME types now talking USD 37,500 daily for round-trip voyages. – NNC has fixed M/V «Sophia,» 76,421 dwt, built 2001, delivery Korea November 8-12, trip via Egypt, redelivery Passero, at USD 38,500 daily. – In Atlantic, Bottiglieri has fixed M/V «Alma Ata,» 76,008 dwt, built 1999, delivery mid-November Rotterdam, for two legs, redelivery Atlantic, at USD 38,500 daily option, redelivery Far East, at USD 39,500 daily. – On smaller sizes, M/V «Alanya,» 38,792 dwt, built 1986, delivery mid-November Turkey, trip via Black Sea, redelivery US Gulf, was fixed at USD 21,500 daily.
