OAED helps just one in 40 young people return to work
Greece’s Manpower Organization (OAED) appears to be particularly inefficient in helping people aged up to 34 to find work, as a special Hellenic Statistical Authority survey showed on Thursday that only 2.4 percent of people aged 15-34 years received support from OAED in their effort to find a job during the second quarter of the year.
Most people returned to the labor market thanks to relatives or friends (39.9 percent) or through a direct contact with the employer (18 percent), while classified ads helped 14.5 percent of young people find work.
Finding work through friends and relatives has an even higher rate among non-Greeks living in Greece.
