TANKERS Another quiet start with minimum inquiry in all areas. – In the Med. the last Aframax fixtures were hovering around W/S 180, while on the Cont. the 80,000-ton cargo liftings are fixed at W/S 130. – Caribs has also been very quiet recently; last Friday not even one single fixture was reported. Latest rates for the 70,000 tons round voyages at W/S 190. – Suezmax in the Med. at W/S 160. Lukoil has fixed M/T «Navarin» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading April 29 Black Sea, discharging Med., at W/S 160, while in the Cont., Atmi for 135,000 tons of cargo, loading April 17, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Aldawha» at W/S 167.5. – In W. Africa, Cepsa has fixed M/T «Astro Cassiopeia» for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading April 25, discharging Spain, at W/S 195, while on VLCCs, Glencore has fixed M/T «Arion» for 260,000 tons of cargo, loading May 6, discharging US Gulf, at W/S 115. – In Arabian Gulf, Exxonmobil has fixed M/T «Golden Stream» for 265,000 tons of cargo, loading April 29, discharging Far East, at W/S 100, while S. Oil for 275,000 tons of cargo, loading May 3, discharging S. Korea, has fixed M/T «Taizan» at same levels. – In the Med., Stasco for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 3 Algeria, discharging USAC, has fixed M/T «Minerva Anna» at W/S 200. – In the Cont., BHP for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading April 15, discharging UKC, has fixed M/T «Nordic Torinita» at W/S 150. DRY CARGO Capesize rates are under pressure, while owners with revised ideas have attracted some activity from charterers’ side. – In the Atlantic, Swiss Marine has fixed M/V «Great Lady,» 175,075 dwt, built 1992, delivery France April 7-9 for 2 legs, redelivery UKC/Med., at USD 61,000 daily, while in the Far East Kleimar has fixed M/V «Kohyohsan,» 172,564 dwt, built 2001, delivery Japan April 12-14, trip via Australia, redelivery UKC, at USD 46,000 daily. – Panamax rates in the Atlantic are holding steady, while in the East some aggressive rates have been agreed. Healthier numbers are being reported for round voyages, with a Nopac round done at USD 39,500 daily. – In the Far East, Matic has fixed M/V «Ascanius,» 76,500 dwt, built 2004, delivery Taiwan April 13-16, trip via Thailand, redelivery UKC/Cont., at USD 29,500 daily. – In the Atlantic, Coeclerici has fixed M/V «Tai Progress,» 77,000 tons dwt, built 2004, delivery Belgium April 11, for 2 laden legs, redelivery Far East, at USD 55,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Seaboard has fixed M/V «Southgate,» 25,417 dwt, built 1982, delivery Mexico mid-April, trip via US Gulf, redelivery Haiti, at USD 25,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, Dreyfus for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Indonesia April 16-25, discharging Spain, has fixed M/V «Peter S» at USD 23.00 per ton with 35,000 tons load and 15,000 tons discharge.
