Stathakis decision shows thaw between gov’t and Hellas Gold
Relations between the Environment Ministry and Eldorado Gold have changed completely after the departure of former minister Panos Skourletis, as the signing of a decision by new minister Giorgos Stathakis illustrated this week.
The ministerial decision approves the technical study by the company’s subsidiary Hellas Gold on the ore dressing plant at Skouries in Halkidiki.
Also, on Monday afternoon Stathakis will have his first meeting with the administration of Hellas Gold, which will determine whether the company resorts to the Council of State against the Skourletis decision to block the licensing of the mining unit at Madem Lakkos.
