Delays mean ENFIA payments won’t start before September

The Finance Ministry’s delay in sorting out the objective values of properties and the Single Property Tax (ENFIA) for this year mean that the tax slips will not be uploaded on the Internet before mid-August and the first tranche of the tax for 2016 will be paid in September.

Consequently, the last of the five ENFIA installments will have an end-January 2017 deadline.

The amount expected to be collected amounts to around 3.5 billion euros, and possibly up to 3.7 billion, according to ministry officials.

The recent legislation changes will entail a bigger tax bill for some 500,000-600,000 property owners.
