May sales begin on Wednesday and last until next Tuesday
The weeklong midseason sales begin across Greece on Wednesday, ending on May 10.
This follows a 7 percent annual drop in Easter sales last year, according to National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce head Vassilis Korkidis.
The May sales window usually opens during the month’s first 10 days, but this year the first three days coincided with Easter and May Day.
On Sunday, May 8, stores will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Hellenic Retail Business Association announced on Tuesday. However, employee unions have called a strike for Sunday in protest at Sunday opening.
