Tax authorities set to begin exhaustive cross-checking

The business plan of the General Secretariat of Public Revenues provides for the confiscation of state debtors’ safe deposit contents and financial assets, along with 103,770 inspections across all areas of economic activity and the publication of the names of taxpayers who owe money to the state and the social security funds.

The plan, issued on Thursday, also warns that Finance Ministry inspectors will be granted access to all information technology systems, so that authorities can gradually get a clear picture on every taxpayer and enterprise.

The ministry’s Taxisnet database will be connected with Hellenic Exchanges, which operates the stock market, with the Labor Ministry’s Ergani hirings database, the Interior Ministry’s registry office, and the IT system of the Land Register.
