Corporate bond trading to start soon at Athinon Avenue
The launch of the Greek corporate bond trading market is a priority for the Athens Exchange (ATHEX), with the institutional framework having been in place for nearly two years – i.e. since April 2014.
The absence of any significant interest on the part of companies back then stalled the process, but ATHEX general director Sokratis Lazaridis this week requested that issue consultants prepare for the entry of corporate bonds into the domestic market for the first time.
The idea is to help healthy and prosperous Greek enterprises to issue bonds locally and benefit from the restructuring of their loans.
