EIB to boost its presence in Greece
The European Investment Bank is upgrading its offices in Greece and setting up a special task force to work on investment in the country.
The team to be set up in Athens, headed by Nicholas Jennett, will undertake the strengthening of relations with Greek banks and look into the prospects for investing in the local private sector.
As EIB governor Werner Hoyer said on Monday in Athens, “the bank is working toward seeking investment through the Juncker package and other European investment programs for strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises.”
The strengthening of the EIB presence in Greece was the main topic of talks Hoyer had on Monday with Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis and his deputy Alexis Haritsis, as well as the governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras.
