Seamen’s strike may have lasting impact on cruise tourism
A strike by seamen that started on Monday and is set to continue at least until Friday morning has already had its first consequences on cruise tourism, damaging the country’s credibility as a cruise destination.
In a letter to the government, the association of cruise ship owners notes that the situation has been worrying cruise operators, leading them to seriously consider changing their routes in future, avoiding Greek ports.
A major issue is that while cruise ships had been allowed to dock at Greek ports on Monday, port authorities have since Tuesday been preventing them from doing so, upsetting schedules and disappointing passengers.
