Capital controls relaxed for Greek Church

The Church of Greece will not have to abide by the same restrictions on cash withdrawals as the rest of Greeks according to a legislative decree issued in late September, reports said Wednesday.

According to the decision, which is signed by Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos, the country’s bishoprics can withdraw up to 10,000 euros monthly. The cash limit for the Athens Archbishopric is set at 20,000 euros a month.

Under credit controls introduced by the leftist-led government in June, daily ATM withdrawals from Greek bank accounts are limited to 60 euros. Alternatively, Greeks can withdraw 420 euros a week.
