August export decline eases
Greek exports and imports declined in August albeit not by as much as in July, Hellenic Statistical Authority figures showed on Thursday. Both exports and imports fell 8.9 percent from a year earlier.
The easing of the capital controls helped to moderate the drop in exports, which in July had recorded a 32 percent annual decline. However, the market remains a long way from returning to normality.
Exports – including fuel products – totaled 1.89 billion euros in August: They dropped for a third consecutive month, pointing to a general decline for this year, while imports fell to 3.01 billion euros.
