ATHEX: Bank stock slide eases
Bank stocks continued their descent for yet another day on the Athens Exchange on Thursday, albeit at a slower rate. As a result, the benchmark ended the session with only marginal losses.
The ATHEX general index closed at 667.82 points, shedding 0.11 percent from Wednesday’s 668.54. The large-cap FTSE 25 index fell 0.43 percent to end at 194.64 points.
Banks dropped 2.10 percent, as Eurobank gave up 6.45 percent and Piraeus lost 3.26 percent. GEK Terna rose 5.33 percent.
In total 33 stocks advanced, 44 declined and 22 stayed put. Turnover reached just 23.7 million euros, from Wednesday’s 30.6 million.
