Dombrovskis sees ‘ground for hope’ in Greek election result
The European commissioner for the euro said on Monday that the outcome of Greece’s elections “gives us ground for hope” that the debt-wracked country would press on with reforms agreed under a massive rescue program.
“We believe that it’s important that the new government is swiftly formed and that the new government is committed to the program and that it will continue with the reforms,” Valdis Dombrovskis told reporters.
He added that the fact that parties which had voted for the rescue looked set to dominate Greece’s Parliament “gives us ground for hope that” the bailout program will be implemented.
