ATHEX: Fourth day of gains for index
Greek bank stocks enjoyed healthy gains on Thursday as the bourse benchmark continued to head north for a fourth day in a row on low trading volume.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 675.10 points, adding 0.87 percent to Wednesday’s 669.26 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.56 percent to end at 197.27 points.
Piraeus Bank went up 8.77 percent, Eurobank climbed 7.32 percent and Alpha Bank rose 5.88 percent.
EYDAP water company fell 3.30 percent, Hellenic Exchanges lost 3.01 percent and Coca-Cola HBC gave up 1.87 percent.
In total 51 stocks made gains, 40 declined and 17 stayed put.
Turnover amounted to 33.8 million euros.
