Stocks edge up amid caution
There was a modest rise on the Athens Stock Exchange Thursday as the general index rose by 0.69 percent to reach 627.02 points.
Thursday’s developments appear to reflect a wait-and-see attitude among investors as Greece prepares for snap elections.
Folli Follie, Jumbo, Grivalia Properties and OTE telecom saw their share prices rise by more than 4.5 percent, while Eurobank fell by 7.14 percent, the day’s biggest decline. Piraeus Bank and Terna Energy fell by 4.35 and 4 percent respectively.
There was an increase in turnover during Thursday’s session. It hit 21.81 million euros, a 6.86 percent rise on Wednesday and a reversal of the week’s downward trend.
